If Insurance has still not come through for lost belongings (Irma while in St Martin) do I put '0' where it asks for insurance reimbursement?

I was in St Martin during hurricane Irma and lost all belongings. our TripMate insurance has still not come through. Do I put '0' for Insurance Reimbursement?

You could do that but then, if you get a casualty deduction this year, you would have to claim the insurance reimbursement as income next year.  You can otherwise wait to claim the loss next year, or just file an amended return later this year when you know the payment amount.  The amendment is probably the best way to go.

Of course it would be just the part of the recovery that would affect the deduction that would count as income.
