If you are married and your wife filed married filing jointly, you are not a dependent, no matter your income.

You're behind on the times. The standard deductions have changed the last few years. No personal exemptions.

In this situation with the combined W2/1099-MISC situation I'd agree. But the general statement of 'you file where you work regardless of the issuing location' ...
