Your status still shows "ready to mail" because if you mail in your return, TurboTax has no way of knowing whether or not you actually physically mailed your return and therefore it will not move past the "ready to mail" status. When you print and mail your return to the IRS and/or State authorities, only they will have a record of receiving them, not TurboTax.
