Your babysitting income is considered self-employment income and should be reported as such. Here is data entry:
- Federal Taxes
- Wages and Income
- Self-Employment, Select Income and Expenses - follow the interview questions; you would report the income as if you own a business; you will be able to enter your income and expenses (if applicable).
Note: you may be asked to upgrade to a higher version of TurboTax.

Earnings from a self-employed babysitting business are entered on Schedule C. You will also claim any expenses for your business on Schedule C. Use your own records to determine your income and be sure you keep those records with your copies of your tax return.
Use the following steps to get started:
- On the top row of the TurboTax online screen, click on Search (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax locate the search box in the upper right corner)
- This opens a box where you can type in “schedule c” (be sure to enter exactly as shown here) and click the magnifying glass (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax, click Find)
- The search results will give you an option to “Jump to schedule c”
- Click on the blue “Jump to schedule c” link
