You used the Free Edition for your tax return and apparently upgraded to another version for your nieces return. Was her return more complicated? Did she have a 1099-MISC with associated expenses? Did she itemize deductions?

I wanted to do the EZ but it would not let me. Hers was no more complicated then mine .
