You should file your extension today.  It will give you up to 6 months to complete and file your return.  Keep in mind, however, that extensions do not extend the time you have to pay your tax.  You should do your best to estimate that tax you owe and send a payment for that amount along with your extension request. https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/3301811
