Wind 10 install error

First, try to run the program as an admin > right click on the TurboTax exe file and select "Run as administrator".

If that doesn't work and you're using Windows 10, try this solution: 

  1. Right Click your taskbar and select “Task manager” 
  2. Look for “Intuit update service” in the process tab and end process.
  3. Look for "MSIexec.exe" in the Details tab and end process.
  4. Try to install Turbotax 2017 again.

If you're using Windows 7 or later, here are 3 more potential solutions:

Run the Windows System File Checker, then try updating again.

Re-register the Windows Installer: Click Start Run > type MSIEXEC /UNREGISTER > click OK (it'll look like nothing happened). Then do the same thing except this time type MSIEXEC /REGSERVER. Now try updating again.

Start the Windows Installer Service:

  1. Click Start > type Services.msc in the search box > press the Enter key.
  2. Scroll down and double-click Windows Installer.
  3. Select Manual as the Startup type.
  4. Click Start, then OK.
  5. Try updating again.

Why is this happening? INTUIT bug or do I need an update to my computer? Any ideas?
