Are you asking about those 1040ES vouchers?   Those are for paying estimated quarterly payments for tax year 2024.  They are NOT for paying your 2023 tax due.   If you expect to owe at least $1000 for 2024 next year, using those vouchers to pay quarterly payments can help you avoid an underpayment penalty and a big tax bill at tax time next year.

If you want to pay your 2023 tax due--as shown on line 37 of your 2023 Form 1040--you can use the 1040V voucher to mail with a check or money order.  That one is for paying your 2023 tax due.

If you owe tax due, you have to pay it yourself by the filing deadline on April 15, 2024.   A payment made after the filing deadline is subject to interest and/or late filing penalties.

If you have federal tax due you can pay by mailing your payment with the 1040V voucher, (which has the address printed on it, having the payment taken out of a designated bank account, or you can pay directly on the IRS website.

You must pay your state tax due using the state’s preferred method of receiving payment.  For most states that will be by making a payment to the state’s own tax website, or by mailing a check or money order.
