Yes.  So filing the second the software becomes functional will not get you a faster refund.  The PATH act means refunds with Earned Income Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit are held until mid-February and the earliest refunds will not be deposited until almost the end of February.

It's also risky efiling in January when tax season first opens.  Many people who efiled in January last year ended up with technical problems at the IRS, which for many delayed their refunds for weeks/months.   This has happened to some in prior years as well.

The PATH act is a permanent situation for every tax season to come so plan accordingly.
