So I have already filed my federal return using another service online that was accepted, and was just using turbotax to file my state return. Seeing how my (duplicate) federal return from TurboTax will be rejected, should I just use another service or mail my state return?
If this is true then turbotax/intuit should make this clear before process started because it seems like y'all have just wasted a bunch of my time.
If someone receives an advance from a tax specialist without submitting the return, then files on their own via credit karma or turbo tax (etc) what will happen ?? And is the loan money received taken out of the accepted refund amount ?
If you receive an advance from one tax specialist and do not continue to file your return to the IRS with that firm or it gets rejected and you do not complete the return it has not been filed with the IRS, If you then file with another tax firm, the refund will likely be sent to you and you will owe the lender for the advance. You must read the agreement you signed in relationship to the advance you received.
I filed outside of TurboTax . The entity who filed my return did not provide the maximum refund . Am I able to amend through turbo tax to add deductions and missing information ?
Yes, you can amend your tax return using TurboTax if your original return was down elsewhere.
However, you will have to recreate the original return exactly as it was filed as part of this process. You would first have to fill out a new return in TurboTax like you were doing it for the first time and hopefully come out with the same results as your original filed return. Then when it exactly matches what you filed and the amounts are the same for every line on 1040 tell TurboTax you want to file by mail and print out the original return so TurboTax thinks it was filed, then you can do the amended return.
Since the original return was already processed by the IRS you can complete a Form 1040X. The finalized form and instructions are expected to be available from the IRS by February 23, 2023.
