Why was my state taxes auto debited when I didn’t authorize it?

Could it have been for the Turbo Tax fees instead?  Were you having the fees deducted from your federal refund?  What state?  Most states do not let you pay by Direct Debit but only by check or paying directly on the state's website.

Nothing happens without your implicit  instruction ... so review the filing/payment instruction page to see what payment option you choose ...

Was your state return accepted?  Better double check.

Then Check the printout or PDF of your return; look for the state cover sheet with the Turbotax logo.  If you owed tax, it will show the payment information and how/when you decided to pay.  Read the state payment instructions carefully since most states cannot be paid from within the TT system and requires additional steps.
