This is a rare case in which you can remove the dependent during the state interview. California (I believe it is the only state) allows you to claim some dependents that you do not claim on your federal return. So, that means the dependent transferred to your state return before you deleted her from your federal return. However, you can remove her in the California interview.
Go back through your CA return and when you come to the screen that asks ''Do you have a dependent you didn't claim on your federal return?'' see image below. Answer YES. The next screen will list the dependents and you should be able to remove your daughter from the CA return. Depending on the situation, you may be able to leave her on the CA return if she is a student. The rule is below.
