Why do I have to sign a perjury statement, when I am single and Head of household?

Unfortunately, a lot of people claim Head of Household erroneously (either by honest mistake or fraudulently)- signing the affidavit certifies that you are qualified.  It is an extra step, but asking for the affidavit acts a buffer against having to pay out bad claims.
