If you have opted to pay your TurboTax fees with your refund, then the additional $34.99 is for our Refund Processing Service. This is a feature that allows you to deduct your TurboTax fees from your refund and is a bank charge. This additional charge can be avoided by removing the service and paying with a credit or debit card. The link below is a TurboTax FAQ that will give you instructions on removing the Refund Processing Service and changing your payment method to credit or debit if you choose and desire to do so:

There are 2 online 2018 products that have no fees.
What product are you using--Online TurboTax or desktop software (CD/download)?
And what edition (Free, PLUS, Deluxe, Premier, etc.)? Or did you end up in TurboTax Live--i.e., Live Basic, Live Deluxe, etc.?
In the Online versions Efiling is free and included. The fees are to prepare the return whether you efile or print and mail. If you efile you can choose to have the fees deducted from a federal refund. But there is an EXTRA 39.99 Refund Processing Service charge (44.99 in California). So pay the fees upfront with a credit card to avoid the extra charge.
Only the Free Edition is free. And the fees are determined at the time you pay or file. So you could have paid early to lock in a lower price. You can see all the online prices here. And in Deluxe and above the state is a separate 44.99.
