Why did I need a business license for Amazon package delivery?

That can depend on the area you live, @maxbrown59.  If you had to register as an LLC or similar in your state or local area to operate as an Amazon package delivery business, the state or locality may also require a business license.  Depending on where you live, your locality may charge an occupational license tax or something similar on your business income.  But you can research your local ordinances to gather more information.
