Why can't I e-file my MA state return?

I e-filed my federal return but the only option I seem to have for my MA state return is to file by mail.  Why can't I e-file my state return?

Did you efile the fed thru the TT program ?  If you did then what is the reason the program gave you ?  Go to the REVIEW tab to see if there is something holding you up.

Did you only recently efile the Federal return; i.e., within the last couple of days?   If so, has it been accepted?   You can't efile the state return by itself until the Federal return has been accepted.
