Why can't i e-file 2 returns in the same state?

From the online version or the Desktop program?  2 returns for 2 different people?  Please explain.  2 state returns or federal?

Desktop. 2 returns for 2 people.  Can not e-file one state return.  Turbo tax charges me for second return

There is a fee to efile each state return in the Desktop program.  Do you get any message why you can't efile the other state return?  Did you efile their federal return?

both federal returns were e-filed.  i did not e- file the 1st state return but tried to file the second. turbo tax charged fo the second state return even though it was the first state e-file return.

Yes.  As I said the state efile fee is for EACH state return including the first one.

In the Desktop program it is currently 24.99 to efile EACH state return including the first one.  What you got for free was one state program download to prepare unlimited state returns.  Then if you have to file a return in a different state you have to buy another state program for 44.99.
