Which file to use

If I amended my tax in 2017, and I am starting my 2018 return, which file do I use to upload?  The 2017 regular one or the 2017 amended one?

You need to use the Amended one to start the 2018 return, as that is the one with the latest information that has been filed with IRS.

It’s actually a sophisticated enough where you don’t have to locate the file from the previous year. It’s saved online it seems.
