Where are the desktop options

All I see is "start for free" under do it yourself and step 2 is Upload your w-2.

It is showing you are in the Online version.  The start for free is only for the Online version.

You can see all the Desktop versions (CD/Download) at the following website:

To add:  With the Desktop software you can prepare unlimited returns, you get 5 free Federal e-files, after that the returns must be mailed.  The Desktop software also includes one Free State Program (to prepare your return), to e-file a State return there is a charge of $25, you can mail in your State to avoid the e-file charge.
