TurboTax has worked hard with the IRS to be able to e-file this form. Since this will require programming adjustments for both the IRS and TurboTax, it will be a few weeks before these changes are made. If you wish to file this form, you have the following options:
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions on how to do this.
The other option is to efile elsewhere since IRS made accommodations on Feb 19th since 7202 can't be efiled and they don't want paper files. PLENTY of other tax software companies did it. My efiled return with form 7202 has already been accepted by IRS. I feel bad that I keep repeating this but I know some people cannot wait for turbotax to get this wrinkle straightened out and they don't have to.
Desktop version worked 50 minutes ago. Had to update the program for it to work.
What did you do to update it?
online just worked (miracle) 😀
From the explorer bar at the top click the 'online' tab then click check for updates.
Hey everyone,
I've been checking back everyday attempting to e-file my taxes. This morning, at 8am, I was able to e-file my taxes with the 7202 form. Finally!!!
Seems it updated automatically for me 🙂
Filed and accepted.
Some people are saying they are able to file 7202-t electronic successfully -- can someone from turbotax confirm this?
Is March 12 still a target date? Or is it okay to file now?
As of today, this form is available for e-file. We projected it would be 3/12/2021 and it was done earlier.
Form 7202 is a tax break given to the self-employed taxpayers because of the pandemic.
Under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, if you are a self employed person including those who receive a 1099-MISC, and if you were not able to work or telework due to reasons related to the coronavirus, you are eligible for this Sick Leave and Family Leave credits. You would need to file a Form 7202 to figure the amount to claim for the credits.

Just fyi- if turbotax still hasn't made accommodations for alternative methods to efile with 7202 as an attachment per IRS rules- there are other tax software companies that have. I used one that was able to transfer all my info from my 2019 taxes (that I did w turbotax), they efiled my 2020 tax return w 7202 as a pdf attachment and the IRS accepted my return. I'm only posting this bc I don't think it's right that turbotax keeps telling people who want to claim these credits that they have to either efile and make an amendment, paper file or wait til turbotax figures it out. Bc another option is efile somewhere else (the one I used only cost $20 for the full package for self employed w audit support ect)
@t2thedoc1, Form 7202 is currently available; please see the forms availability list update here.
I just completed and efiled my return with the 7202 form included. I think they're good to go now, I used the online version BTW. Hope that helps!
It seems to be available for efiling. Works for me today.
I feel there is some confusion around the wording of
Would have been: b. Eligible to receive qualified family leave wages under
the Emergency Family and Medical Leave Expansion Act if
you had been an employee of an employer (other than yourself)
Can you explain how a self employed person can be eligible for this?
Thanks
