When will the 2018 1040 and related forms be ready?

They are already ready, and most have been available for quite some time.  Why do you think they are not?

Have you updated your desktop software since you installed it?   You should run the program updater.

Launch TurboTax, and if you don't have it set to automatically update or to ask you if you want to update, then here's how to run the updater.  At the main screen, go to top menubar, click on ONLINE, then in the dropdown menu "Check for Updates."

When I run TurboTax, it looks for updates but appears to find none.  When I continue to my tax return, it gives me a list of forms, etc and says they will be ready soon.  When I run the review, it asks me to install updates.  When I run the updater I get an "unexpected error" which starts out :System.runtime.serializationexception:"  I have reloaded TurboTax from the CD and the program runs the same way.

Try running a Repair first.  That sometimes resolves update problems.

If no luck, then try installing a manual update.  The current is Release 19, while the CD is always Release 1.  Here's where to download the update:
