Do I re-enter the 2020 1099-R for this year to file the 2nd year out of my 3? And then move forward with the turto tax prompt?
No. You do Not enter the 2020 Form 1099-R on the 2021 tax return. You will be prompted for the 2nd year of the 2020 distribution when the Form 8915-F becomes available in TurboTax.
Form 8915-F, Qualified Disaster Retirement Plan Distributions and Repayments is scheduled to be available in TurboTax on 03/24/2022
when will form 8915-E be ready
It's ready!!!!!! I just filed!!!!! FINALFRICKINLY.
I still don't see an update from TurboTax ? How did some people file with forms 8915-E already ? Someone from urban tax please explain what is the plan to get an update that works and lets up e-file.
I have the Mac downloaded 2021 TurboTax software, when will an update be available for form 8915-F ?

The form 8915-F will be available tomorrow in a software update using the desktop editions.
The form is in the system. HOWEVER, I do NOT need the form. Yet TT will not allow me to delete it. I just called Customer Service, which I learned was "Product Support", and they informed me I needed to make an appointment with a Tax Expert. Yet, I explained this is a product problem.
So frustrating.
So even though I did not get a 1099-r in 2021 should I say yes to that question and enter all the information from my 2020 1099-r? I keep saying NO I did not get a 1099-r in 2021 and then I answer all the questions and it tells me I need to go back to the section again even though it does adjust and lower my return. Very confusing.
Having same problem
Supposed to be today, 3/24/22 for form 8915-F year 2022, but as of 7:39 EST, not available. TurboTax--when will it be available? Four returns on my end need this to be done ASAP!
Not on my end!
Sorry----for year 2021, not available on my end yet.
I took a Covid distribution in 2020 and reported it via 8915E on 2021 taxes to be spread out over 3 years...
I see the 1099R section opened up to me this morning. So I answer:
Did you receive a 1099R in 2021? (technically, yes but it was for tax years 2020). So I answer "No"
Have you ever taken a disaster distribution before 2021? "Yes"
Enter information for prior years from form 8915E... Hit "Continue" and finish that section, but nothing happens!
My distribution was in the amount of $7,000 - paying taxes on $2,333 each year for 3 years. But after completing the section, my refund stays the same. Can I file or is there some other form (8915F) that I have to complete?
If your refund/tax due did not change, you entered it incorrectly,
OR, TurboTax is not working correctly.
Look at your tax return. The 2nd year distribution will be on Line 5b if from a 401(k) or on Line 4b if from an IRA.
You can view your Form 1040 at any time using the online editions. Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen. Click on Tools. Click on View Tax Summary. Click on Preview my 1040 on the left side of the screen.
