When does e-file begin in 2021

Even if Turbo Tax lets you submit your return they will just hold all the returns until the IRS opens filing on Jan 27, 2021 or later. So there is no hurry. And a lot of people who file early find out they have to amend later like when they get their actual W2 and 1099 forms. Or they get more forms than they were expecting.

The software is allowing users to e-file as of Monday of this week. But those e-files just sit in pending on a server for a few weeks until the IRS begins to accept/reject e-files. While they are stuck in pending they cannot be changed in any way. This is only Wednesday and I have already lost count of the number of people who rushed to e-file and then realized they made mistakes.
