I made some sales last year on facebook marketplace, fb said I should expect my 1099 by end of Jan. So far I haven't seen any. I tried to reach out to FB customer service however there's no response. Also asked in one of their seller groups that are moderated by FB employee. My posts are very nice, but got automatically moderated. Now I am worried those forms will never arrive. What would happen if FB does not provide those forms?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
Ideally, you know how much you made. If the sales were done as a business, enter them as cash on Schedule C. That is the second option "other self-employed income".
Thanks for the detailed instructions. Follow up question: FB actually withhold tax before paying me out, they also missed on some payouts, so I don't really know how much I actually made minus tax withhold by FB, minus those missed payouts. I guess I can only wait for their tax forms, if they will ever send out?
Yes, if you are not certain how much you were paid, you will need to wait for the forms.
You may want to check to with Facebook to see if the forms are available electronically. If you didn't read all the fine print when you signed up for the marketplace, you may have agreed to receive your tax forms electronically.
Another possibility would be to check your bank or payment service records to see how much you received.
