If you have gambling winnings, they would be entered into the federal return and then it will flow to your resident state return. Nevada does not have state income tax.
Any gambling winnings is taxable income for federal purposes regardless of where the money came from. Keep in mind the losses will only be used if you are able to itemize deductions. TurboTax will put the losses in your itemized deductions.
Enter the gambling winnings using the steps below.
- Sign into your TurboTax account
- Select Tax Home (on the left) > Income & expenses > Less Common Income > Gambling Winnings > Start
- Follow the screen prompts based on your situation (reporting document or none)
- Be prepared with your gambling losses as well (only deductible if you can itemize your deductions)
