What is a 504 form and why can't I file now?

Says available 1/20/17. Is that the earliest you can actually file?

If it says the form wont be final until 1/20/17, then 1/20/17 is the earliest you can file.

Form 504 is a state form, states wont process e-filed returns until IRS accepts them anyhow and IRS wont be accepting any returns until Jan 23rd, 2017. 

Filing any returns prior to Jan 23rd, just keeps them in TurboTax servers until IRS opens the filing season on the 23rd.
