Box d is used by certain payroll services but is not mandatory. It does not affect your taxes in any way. If your W-2 has no box d, just leave it blank in TurboTax.

As Minh explained, the control number in box d on the W-2 is not required by the IRS. Perhaps you need it to auto-import your W-2, but there is no reason you can't manually enter your W-2 without it.
