What does it mean when it says sales tax paid and sales tax calculated at total general rate?

TurboTax uses a formula for sales tax based on your income and the sales tax rates for your location. The other option is to actually enter what you paid in sales tax based on the receipts you have. If you had a large purchase, you can also enter that receipt.

Sales tax paid is what was entered by the taxpayer.
