If you image your hard drive (a very common activity) to another drive it will invalidate ALL of your turbotax licenses, both business and personal for ALL years. Turbotax has no understanding of this issue, nor do they have any procedure, so they force your through remedial resolutions steps.
How hard would it be to reset\reduce your activation count, then you could simply reactivate and be on your way. But no, they have no desire to resolve this and force you to use another activation if you have any left.
