If I am filing taxes for 2020 do I use the one that says 2021

Use a 2020 program to file 2030 taxes. You might have difficulty finding that program.

No.  The 2021 program is only for 2021 returns.  Turbo Tax only has the last 3 years.  They no longer sell or support 2020.    So you need to go someplace local.

 

If you have a simple return and want to file for free you can fill out the forms by hand. Here are some basic forms…..

You have to print and mail prior year returns. When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS received the return. Don’t forget state.
