Question

W2 empty Box 1 - Can't e-file

Hello!

My husband received a settlement from a lawsuit and received two W2's for it. On one W2, boxes 1-13 are empty, leaving only boxes 14, 15, 20 and A-E filled in (d is blank).  The other W2 is more complete with only boxes d, 7-14 and 18-20 that are blank.

Box 15 has two different State Employer's state ID #

Because Box 1 is empty on one of the W-2s, I can't e-file.  What can I do in this situation?  Do I even need the W2 that is primarily blank?

Blessings!

You can combine the two into one entry and if needed add more state and local information.  Just be sure no information is duplicated.
