W-9 form

My landlord asked me to fill out a W-9 form 

I’m not really sure if a have to do that cause it contains all my information such as SS#

Typically you fill out a W-9 for someone who will be paying money to you.  Why does your landlord want a W-9 from you?  One thing you could do in order to avoid giving out your SSN is get a Tax ID from the IRS
