I input my W-2 by hand.  I then went back and uploaded my W-2 to my TurboTax account.  When I e-file my federal taxes, is the W-2 document automatically uploaded with my submitted tax return file?  Is submitting the W-2 file/document a requirement to successfully e-file my federal tax return?

Your W-2 does not actually get sent to the IRS, they have copies of all W-2's.  What is sent is a Wage & Income statement that has all your information from your W-2 that you manually entered or imported.
