Verification Request

When I verified my identity I informed the IRS that my bank account had closed so I would like a paper check. Now that my tax return is being processed again, I received another letter asking me to verify my identity. Why do I need to do this again? Is it because I changed from DD to paper check? Has anyone had to verify themselves multiple times for one return? 

I’ve never had to verify before this year so I’m a little confused and nervous about this whole process.

The reprocessing is the most likely reason for the new IRS request.  But whatever their reason might be, you should do what they ask so that your return won't be automatically rejected in the reprocessing.
