Hello everyone,
I am about to e-file for the first time in my life. I have mailed in our tax return for years. I will be using the Free File Fillable form. I am married filing jointly. We pay estimated taxes quarterly using EFTPS. After doing a rough estimate of our 2021 taxes we will owe a small amount to the IRS. When i looked at the booklet on Free File, it looks like there is no option to pay our balance via EFTPS. It prompts you with 4 options: Put in your checking and routing numbers to pay electronically (don't want to do that), use Direct Pay (why should I do this if I have EFTPS?), pay with a hard check that i have to mail, or indicate that I cannot pay and want to be put on a payment plan. And I think I have to pick one of these in order to submit. Has anyone incurred this and figured out a way to use EFTPS. Only other thing I can see is that I indicate that i will send a hard check in the mail, but then, instead, go over and pay the balance on EFTPS. Any advice,
Thanks,
Rosanne

Yes, the last option is the one you should use. Tell them you are going to mail a check, but then pay using EFTPS.
Thanks so much Julie. Really appreciate your help.
All the best,
Rosanne
Will this apply to the state filing also?
You can't use EFTPS for your state taxes.
Refer your your State's revenue website for payment options available to you.
