Updates take so long

I'm using Turbotax 2022 purchased at Costco downloaded onto a 2020 iMac running Ventura 13.2.1. Why do updates take so long just to open my return that I'm working on? I have been waiting for nearly an hour, and I have fast internet. When I right click on the TT icon, it shows that it is updating. Does it seriously take that long? How can I fix this? I can't be encountering this every time I go to open the program.

Ok, I figured something out. Hopefully it will help someone else. 

You can't open directly from the .tax file. It will prompt you to update, but it will take forever. I closed out of that and then just opened from the TT2022 icon. That downloaded the updates and then I was able to install them.
