Question

Updates and release notes a different question

I've read and commented about TT discontinuing release notes and am just as frustrated as everyone else. I have a bit of a different question.

I'm waiting on one form (QBI) to complete my taxes so I can file them. I have no idea if this form will change my taxes or not, I need to do the calculations to find out. Right now all the numbers seem to be plugged into the right places, I say seem to be because the worksheet is not very clear, and it says I'm not getting a credit. So, without release notes, how am I supposed to know if the form has been updated and I'm not getting a credit or if it's still waiting to be updated.

The form you are waiting for is Form 8995-A. This is a new form this year, used to calculate the QBI deduction. It is not approved for e-file at this time.

You can check here for information about when certain forms are supposed to get updated.

WHEN IS FORM 8895A BE RELEASED?  IS IT TRUE I CAN'T E-FILE IF THIS FORM IS A PART OF MY RETURN????

Form 8995-A for the Qualified Business Income Deduction is available now.  But, depending on which supporting Schedules you need for Form 8995-A, you may not be able to e-file your return.  If that is the case, TurboTax will give you a "you must print and mail" message.

For example, if you want or need to aggregate your QBI businesses, you will need Form 8995-A Schedule B, and at this the return is "print and mail" only.  No date has been given for when e-file will be enabled.
