Unauthorized access attempts

I’m getting unauthorized access attempts via phone call and text day and night. What will you do to protect my information? If you cannot guarantee just a simple profile protection I definitely will not use your service to file my taxes.

Unauthorized access attempts

It sounds like someone else has put in a typo in their personal information an accidentally typed in your email address or phone number.  Or, your password was compromised.  Intuit has not announced any breaches (they are required by law) so it may be that if you use the same password on more than one web site, some other site may have been compromised.

Start by changing your password.

If you still get access requests from 2-factor, you can try calling customer support and asking specifically for the security team.

Unauthorized access attempts

If someone has created or accessed an Intuit account using your identity without your consent, please see this help article for steps to take including contacting Intuit.

If you believe you have been a victim of tax-related identity theft, you should also:

  • Most importantly, follow the IRS procedures for reporting a fraudulent return.
  • Monitor your credit reports through TransUnion, Equifax, and Experian for any suspicious activity.
  • File a police report with your local law enforcement agency.
  • File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) at Identitytheft.gov or the FTC Identity Theft Hotline at 1-877-438-4338 or TTY 1-866-653-4261.
