Unable to manually change filing status

I would like to make a complaint that it is quite annoying I am unable to change my filing status and that it is done automatically with no option whatsoever to change it manually. I honestly cannot understand why there is no option to change my filing status automatically. I am married filing separately because my wife is a nonresident alien. We have a child who is an American citizen so technically I could claim him as a dependent but when I tried it automatically filed me as head of household which is incorrect since my wife and I are married and live together. My wife does not work and I pay for everything (we both live outside the United States) so I pay for all of his costs.

May I please ask why there is no option to change my filing status automatically?

On the screen that shows you your filing status, check the box that says "Change my filing status," then select Married filing separately. See the screen shot below.
