Hi,
I'm having trouble importing 1099-DIV/INT and 1099-B for 2021 from Etrade Securities LLC which is now part of Morgan Stanley. I was able to import fine for last year tax (2020). What's going on? Can someone help PLEASE?
Thanks
Hieu

Have you tried importing from E*Trade Bank instead of E*Trade Securities? Many users have found success with importing from E*Trade that way.
For additional information, please see What if I can't import my 1099?
I tried all the E*Trade options. None of them worked.
Can you please help? I am having the same problem. It has worked in past 10 years. I don't have 10,000 transactions but I still expect to not have to manually enter all my transactions into TurboTax. My errors saids"This Import was unsuccessful" using E*Trade Securities. I tried using the E*Trade Bank, and it gave me the same error message even though I know it was not the password because "logging in" actually kicked me out of my E*Trade web access, although it would still not import in TurboTax. I know many people is experiencing the same problem - is TurboTax fixing this? Or should I try a different tax program going forward?
Hi
I found a workaround last night:
1) After unable to import from any of the 3 E*trade options from my PC Turbotax Premier, I saved the file onto the hard drive.
2) Then I create an online account with Intuit Turbo tax and start to create a new tax prep.
3) import the saved file into the online TurboTax program so that you don’t have to re-enter all your info such as w2 again
4) I then was able to login and import 1099 forms from E*trade by Morgan Stanley. Surprise!!!!
5) I was going to do the rest of the tax process online but I was unable to modify and change the wrong cost basis so I saved the progress as an export file *.tax2021 for example
6) Go back to my PC program and load the saved file and do the rest of tax prep here.
I know this workaround is tedious but I had way too many transactions to do this manually
Good luck guys!
Hi @hieule911
I am unable to find an option to import .tax2021 file after signing up online, can you please guide me how I can import that file saved from desktop turbotax version. Appreciate your help
Sorry I forgot how I was able to import the tax2021 file from PC => online
For now, it would be better if you just start with the online version from fresh and then export to .tax2021 and import into PC after you already done with the 1099 import step. Entering the first part of the tax form again probably should not take too much time (i.e. previous .tax2020 & w-2).
Hope this help. Basically idea is that you really need to use the online TurboTax version to import 1099 forms from Etrade.
