Turbotax is saying return rejected due to incorrect AGI, despite coming from my 2018 transcript. Appears it's sending the wrong number, saying "IRS already rejected $0"

I am entering my AGI per my 2018 transcript, but it keeps getting rejected , and when I check turbotax after the rejection notification it says "The IRS has already rejected this number:" and then shows a number different from what I entered, such as $0.

If you filed your 2018 return late or amended then the correct AGI may not be in the system.  If zero will not work either then you cannot e-file.  Your 2019 return will have to be printed, signed and mailed.  Rejections do not come from TurboTax--they come from the IRS.

Attach copies of your W-2 and any other documents that show taxes withheld to the left side of the papers where it says "Attach Forms..."

When you print your return, it will print with filing instructions that tell you where to mail it.  Pay careful attention to the address you mail your return to —federal and state returns do not get mailed to the same place.

It is not required, but is a good idea, to use a mailing service that will track your return or provide you with a receipt showing that the IRS got it--such as Fedex, UPS, or certified mail.

I have neither neither filed my 2018 return late nor amended. I never entered $0; however, it appears that Turbotax has sent $0 as my AGI to the IRS. While rejection come from the IRS, the problem appears to be that Turbotax is not passing on the correct numbers that I input to the IRS.

Again, I never entered $0 as my AGI, but the error message returned by Turbotax indicates that Turbotax sent $0 as my AGI to the IRS.

Is there a way to efile without going through Turbotax? To use the forms as prepared by Turbotax but to bypass Turbotax's efile interface with the IRS (where the problem appears to be)?

Thanks
