Turbo Tax contact SUCKS!!!! Their machine does not understand a word I say (in very plain enuncated English). Will not connect me to a live person and says "have a nice day" and hangs up.
I recieved an email from Turbo Tax that says they screwed up with the California Franchise Tax Board and the CFTB will send out a letter. The underlying tone is "if you owe them money its your problem even though you paid for Turbo Tax and it was a Turbo Tax fault we owe you nothing and whatever extra is your problem even though the problem was our fault HAHA!!!"
Not at all impressed. Dislike companies that want nothing to do with their customers other than getting money from them. May not ever use Turbo Tax again
Support is closed until Monday morning ... try again then.
Thank you!!! They still suck!! Closed is no different than when they are open. They obviously hate their customers, they only like the customers money!!
@dkdklee I believe the rationale is this: If TT had not made the error, you would have been liable for the extra taxes anyway. But TT will pay any interests and penalties that CA assesses.
Thank you for your response. Yes I would still be liable for additional taxes (of course this should have not happened in the first place). No mention by Turbotax of paying any of the extra added if such were to exist. Unknown if there will or would be any. I am more frustrated by the complete lack of customer service at Intuit. The useless answering machine kept asking me if I was an online customer or a desktop/download customer (i.e one that PAYS for the product and its services). While I answered with the required response, the machine kept asking me the same question, seemingly, from dealing with the rest of the extemmly poor process, to get me to hang up and never call again. Thank you agin for your response
My memory is hazy, but I seem to recall that there was an issue where the CA Franchise Board had given the software providers (not just TT) some incorrect schematics, so that taxpayers who filed early on had their taxes miscalculated. The state acknowledged its error, and said it would not be charging interest or penalties as a result.
Hopefully, one of the other regular volunteers on this Board can confirm my recollection and fill in some of the gaps. But you can always wait and see what the state's letter says. Regardless of who made the error, the state approved TT's programming of its forms before they were released.
