Hey all,
I just downloaded TurboTax 2016 on my 2017 MacBook Air in order to successfully complete my backlog of taxes. Post-purchase, I downloaded the software and my Mac laptop says it is unable to open or extract the file via The Unarchiver program. I also tried to open it on an older Mac Desktop - didn't work. Does anybody else know why or how I can successfully open this product I just purchased? It's very frustrating any help would be appreciated.

2016 is no longer sold by TurboTax or supported. I don't know what you mean the "unarchive" program, a download should be a .dmg file that the Mac should automatically open and present an install window to drag the application to the applications folder.
I don't know where you purchased the download that is not available from TurboTax, but it sounds like it might be a bootleg copy.
I was advised to download/purchase this online TurboTax via TurboTax.
This is the page I bought the standard package from ;
https://turbotax.intuit.ca/tax-software/prior-year-taxes.jsp#2016
TurboTax led me there. The file downloaded as an .exe file and said my Mac needed to use The Unarchiver app' to open it. The Turbotax main page says you can still file your 2016 taxes online still.
Any advice in and around this would help.
That is for the Canada TurboTax products.
If you are asking about the Canada TurboTax then this us the US forum.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
I am having a similar issue downloading TURBOTAX 2019 on PC. I gather I need to download it 'using the 2019 software' but I do not see a way to it.
Thank you
