Turbo tax says i haven't completed 2015 return;feds don't have a record of it, yet I printed out 2015 return together with e filing instructions stating my refund amount

Printing your return for your records is not the same as filing a return with the IRS.

Check Your E-File Status on this Secure TurboTax website if it is still working for 2015...
https://turbotax.intuit.com/efile/efile_status_lookup.jsp
- It will show the date you transmitted your return and if it was accepted or rejected.  
- Both your Federal and State will be listed separately if you filed both.
- It will tell you when you E-filed
- The electronic filing date

Then if you didn't successfully efile the return you will need to print, sign & mail the return now.
