I e-filed a few tax returns prior to the Feb 12 IRS start date. I updated the program this morning on Feb 13 and now all my tax files are gone. They;re not in the recycle bin nor located any place on any of the hard drives. All of my previous years are in tact, but all 2020 tax return files and saved PDFs have been wiped. Is there any way to confirm if my e-filing will take place as expected? TT states that it's the same as dropping in a mail box. But, with all files now missing, I am wondering if the e-file will still go through. In addition, is is safe to assume that there's no way to recover any of the missing files since they do not reside on my computer anywhere? Thanks much for this headache TT. You may have lost another customer. It looks like this has happened to many others in previous years - still with no fix to this horrible bug??

I just did an update 10/13/23....all my files from my hard drive are gone. What the hell? I can't find anyone to help me ....Turbo tax is no help. No way to contact them...asked to speak to someone and they said they weren't available --computer response.
strange since I did the same update and all my files are intact. anyway, for windows look in the c:\users\"username"\documents\turbotax folder and see if there is a file that starts with a "~" and has the extension .tax2022 that's a backup for desktop users. you can rename it but must leave the extension as is. double click on it with your mouse to open. There's also a backup for MAC desktop users but I don't know the location.
