Question

TT-B Won't Save My Return

I am using Turbo Tax for Business 2017...the CD version. I'm on Windows 10 (up-to-date). I have used TT for my business for many years.

I just started this year's return. I am unable to save my file. When I select SAVE (or SAVE-AS) and then accept the default name that TT-B suggests, I get an error message saying "File not found. Check the file name and try again." Even if I change the filename to something simple ("TaxReturn"), I get the same error. I've tried multiple locations on my hard drive with the same problem.

TT-B seems to be looking for a file rather than trying to create a new one.

My program is up-to-date. I have tried saving to various locations with the same results. I have tried different file names. I have rebooted several times. I've tried running with no other programs running. I've disabled Defender (and have no other anti-virus running).

I'm dead-in-the-water!

Thanks for assistance.

Have you progressed beyond the Personal Info section of the return?

Yes. All the information was extracted from last year's return. I first encountered the problem when TT-B asked to save in preparation for downloading the State return. I then tried saving before I got that far and encountered the same problem.

I had the same problem- it is a windows 10 update issue. Here is the fix. Go to settings, update + security, open defender security center, virus and threat protection, virus and threat protection settings, TURN OFF controlled folder access.

This could happen to a lot of people. Very annoying and time wasting.

Same issue, but the Controlled Folder Access feature was already turned OFF.
