I've installing the 2018 TT CD on my new laptop and transferred files from my old Windows 7 computer to my new Windows 10 computer, but my new computer can't access my existing files return. It just gives me an error message and wants me to download my state return (which aren't applicable for TN). I've done what it asks, but it doesn't pull up my existing return. Any suggestions?

Are you running the 2018 TT or the 2019 TT? Normally you would not need to install 2018 TT just to import into the 2019 TT.
Are you double-clicking on the tax file or opening from within TT?
Have you updated TT?
What is the exact error message?
Your tax data file can be read and edited in the TurboTax program, whereas your PDF file is a non-editable "snapshot" of your tax return that can be opened, viewed, and printed in a PDF viewer program.
If the file you are trying to open In Turbo Tax is a pdf, this could be why the file is causing an error.

If you are trying to file a 2019 return, you will need to download and purchase Turbo Tax 2019, as they cannot be filed using an older software program.
