I can see the prior year returns in the list but when I click the "transfer return" button, nothing happens.  I have opened a closed both the 2023 version and the 2022 version and resaved the file and still nothing happens when I click transfer return.

I am having trouble, too.  Using Desktop version for Windows, and I did a download, not a CD install.  I have a brand new DELL laptop.  I put the two tax files from 2022 on a USB drive, the one ending in .tax2022 and the .pdf file.  NEITHER will transfer.  The .tax2022 sits there forever when I click the "transfer" button.  Nothing happens.  It flashes something quickly saying "Transferring your return" for about one second, but it never says it is done.  I tried the "browse" option and chose the .tax2022 file with the same results.  When I did the "browse" option and chose the .pdf (it says .pdf and .tax2022 are both supported!), it says it transfers, but things are missing.  Once I started the return, it asked me for my phone number and when I got to the W2,  it didn't know about my employer.  It was as if I were starting from scratch!  I need the data transferred because I have depreciated items that need to be there from past years.

I am now trying to call Turbo Tax for the THIRD TIME.  I am very frustrated because I have spent 1.5 hours and haven't even been able to start my return yet.

@jyurso Copy the 2022 tax data file from the USB drive to your computer hard drive C:\ preferably to the TurboTax folder in the Documents directory.

Start a New Tax Return after you have copied the file.  The 2023 TurboTax program should present you the 2022 tax return to transfer to the new 2023 tax return.

I had the same problem.  Clicking transfer button resulted in nothing happening.  In the end, my .tax2022 file was corrupt.  I went back to my "old" computer, copied that file to a different thumb drive, and put that file in the documents area, and the transfer worked.

The PDF file previously had copied, but NONE of the "entities" came over (banks where I had earned interest, my W2 with employer name and address, rental properties, etc.)
