I started our 2025 return online since my PC was Win10 and I was not able to upgrade it at the time. The return is 99% entered, but not filed and I have not been charged for the online service. Then I realized I would have to pay separately for each return filed (I do several for family each year) and decided to bite the bullet and move to a Windows 11 machine. I have everything ready and installed TT2025 desktop, but the instructions for importing my 2025 data from the online version to the desktop version are not doing anything. Per TT, I should simply have to click "Continue from TurboTax Online" once I have logged in. This failed to bring any data over at all. What am I doing wrong?

Let me correct one thing -- the import brings over my 2024 data (which the online version got when I opened my 2024 return file to start the online 2025 return process).
Make sure that you have installed your state return because that can cause issues when transferring.
Then:
1. In Desktop, start a New 2025 return, then look for a prompt to transfer last year and choose Skip/Continue without transferring for now.
2. If the Online import option won’t appear or loops
3. Fallback: You can recreate the return in Desktop. Since you were able to import 2024, you won't have the 2025 data, but it prepopulates carryovers and identities so you can finish 2025 in Desktop.
I live in a state without state income tax, so there is no state return. I ended up re-entering everything (other than the basic information that carried over from 2024). Thanks for the reply anyway.
