I’m a landlord with 4 rentals, three managed myself and one via an agency (mountain cabin). In 2023, I obtained an EIN from IRS solely to use when writing 1099-NEC’s to contractors for $600+ repairs (will use the EIN, not my SS, on the 2024, January 1099-NEC’s). All good so far.
Now, the rental agency is giving me the option of using the EIN on the rental income 1099 they issue me (I’d need to fill out a W9 for them). They already have my SS, no hiding that from them. Is there any reason to have the agency issue the 1099 to me using the EIN?
